Business Intelligence for SAP Master Data

DMWB is an SAP-specific, master data-oriented, business intelligence application.   DMWB knows the 700+ master, check, text, and other configuration tables that are associated with SAP’s Product, Customer, Vendor, and Finance domains.  It uses data and metadata extracted from SAP to build an off-line data mart from which all subsequent reports are generated—no further access to SAP is required.  It prefixes technical field names with descriptions from the ABAP dictionary to make them more business user-friendly. It appends a system identifier to each data mart table to facilitate cross-instance reporting.   And it delivers its results as a set of Excel reports, each of which addresses an SAP-specific master data issue: 

Null Analysis Report—Shows how often (percent and count) a master data field is not used—by individual instance and across all instances. Filterable by table name or by tab/block names found on SAP transaction inquiry screens.  Color coded to group 100% empty fields and 99% empty fields.

Value Distribution Report—Shows the impact of conflicting text table values on fields with the same check table values.  Displays number of records per instance which have these values.

Configuration Conflict Report—Highlights fields which are Required on one instance but Optional, Suppressed, or Display-only on other instances. Also displays the number of records in each instance which are affected by the discrepancy.

Partner Functions Report—Identifies situations where different partner functions on different instances have the same description, or where the same partner function is defined differently across instances.

Number Range Report—Identifies potential number range overlaps among instances.

Duplicate Object ID Report—Displays records where the same object ID (KUNNR, LIFNR, MATNR) appears on different instances.

Workflow Report—Shows how many and what pct of master data records are created the same day, one day after, etc. initial general data (KNA1, LFA1, MARA) entry. Shows variations by instance, table, material type / account group.

Missing Field Reports—-Identifies master data fields which have been defined on one instance but not another.

More in-depth analysis is supported with DMWB’s built-in drill-down capability to underlying detail master records.  And additional reporting requirements can be addressed by building ad hoc queries against the DMWB data mart..
